Adalyn Sidon is an 18-year-old violist and composer from Des Moines, Iowa. She is currently a student at the University of Michigan double majoring in viola performance and composition. She began studying the viola at the age of 6 and has since developed a passion for sharing her music with her community.

Sidon’s compositions have been performed across the country, including by the South Puget Sound Community College, Birch Creek Symphony Orchestra, and Together Through Sound Festival Orchestra. She has been commissioned to write a variety of music by the Fort Dodge Community Orchestra, Roosevelt Marching Band, Cleveland Institute of Music, and more. She won the Ruth Crawford Seeger International Composition Prize in 2024 as well as the Iowa Composers Forum Student Composition Competition.

As a violist, Adalyn has studied at many summer music festivals including Heifetz Institute, Madeline Island Chamber Music, Hilton Head Chamber Music, and Stringwood Chamber Music. She soloed the Bartók Viola Concerto with the Des Moines Symphony in 2026 and the Walton Viola Concerto with the Birch Creek Symphony in 2023. She was the principal violist of the Iowa All-State Orchestra in high school and performed in many honors orchestras across Iowa. Outside of music, Adalyn enjoys spending time outside, playing tennis, and painting.
