Stars Suite for string orchestra is a vibrant piece that showcases the texture and fullness of strings’ sound. The first movement expresses the immense wonder of our stars and solar system. It begins with resonant C Major chords that lead into a driving main theme. Contrary to the bold and full first movement, the second movement offers an intimate approach, inviting a viola soloist to take the spotlight. The dissonance and collaboration with the solo viola and orchestra reflects how complicated outer space is. This soulful movement then transitions right into a winding and bright third movement, titled River. This last movement is a homage for the vibrance of Earth and our own solar system. Sidon uses perfect fifths and running notes to depict water, an important element that makes up our Earth. The piece in entirety is an appreciation for our life and the wonders that surround us.

NOTE: The second movement with viola solo can also be performed as a standalone piece.
